Sweetgrass coiled with waxed linen thread and artificial sinew affixed to a found stone.
The work begins with foraging for stones, most come from Maine. I begin by weaving directly to the stone, fixing the sweetgrass firmly much like seaweed held fast to ocean rocks. I then begin coiling, an image in mind but aware that the relationship between stone and sweetgrass is organic and to be partially discovered through the act of weaving.
