Millefeuille

Technique: mold woven
My latest creation is called Millefeuille, which translates to “thousand leaves.” The top base is made of pheasant wood and shaped like a frilled leaf. The front clasp is made of walnut and has an ebony overlay. I used paddock as part of the peg and to add color to the basket. The handle is made of layers of walnut and oak. I added acrylic leaf decorations to the handle knobs as a final touch.

I use traditional techniques from Nantucket Basket making to create my baskets. I believe in keeping the design simple to highlight the beauty of fine weaving, which is what I love the most about basket making. My passion for creating baskets drives me to continue on this journey.
