I have a profound respect for traditional basketry forms. Learning from the masters in the craft, I focused on these utilitarian forms, learned techniques handed down through generations and perfected my skills. Moving forward, I am taking my beloved craft to a new level, adding new twists to traditional forms and exploring alternative styles of weaving, adding color and texture, to produce the unexpected. I am exploring more sculptural forms of basketry, weaving in bits and pieces from other mediums to expand the role of basketry beyond the obvious to fine craft, worthy in its own right to be construed as “art” as it is assimilated into daily life.
