I've always been easily seduced by the promises of new processes in art and a series of fiber art classes led me into modern basketry. Here I have the freedom to explore what happens when form doesn't need to follow function but does use underlying structures of traditional shaping techniques. And, as current masters in the field continue to show, nearly any material can be turned into an object of wonder, whether using something as surprising as hog guts or as basic as waxed linen thread. I hope to continue explorations into these materials and methods, to create pieces that employ my own sometimes slightly skewed perspective to try to bring a small moment of wonder to whomever might view my work.
