Lin Bentley Keeling

I have been creating coiled basketry vessels for more than 40 years. The essence of my work is color and the movement and interplay of forms inspired by ambient, jazz and classical music. The design of each piece evolves improvisationally as the vessel takes shape. I use traditional vessel forms as canvases for these abstract compositions of visual music to embody beauty and joy, grace and harmony, positive energies I believe are vital to our world and our wellbeing.  My work has been shown in national and regional exhibits and is part of several private collections.

My recent book, Color Journaling: Engaging & Expanding Your Creativity While Playing with Color, is based on exercises I developed while working out of a creative rut in my studio practice. These exercises help me freely play with color without plans or expectations. Much of my recent work has grown out of these exercises. I teach online workshops in my color journaling technique as well as workshops in contemporary coiled basketry and tapestry weaving.  Please visit my website to learn more about my work, my book and my workshops.
