Congratulations to NBO member Bonnie Zimmer on her upcoming solo show, Sublime Reciprocity: Nature As Collaborator, on view from April 18 – May 28, 2026 at the Art Barn School of Art Gallery, Valparaiso, Indiana.
Sublime Reciprocity: Nature As Collaborator is a solo show presenting a range of Bonnie’s fiber-based creations including assemblages, sculptures, large eco-printed banners and her primary love, “baskets that hold ideas”.
Bonnie’s work is inspired and informed by nature both in form and actual materials. She explores locally harvested natural and found materials and draws widely on the rich legacy of textile techniques. Coiling, twining, netting, embroidery and many more methods may be used, as well as non-traditional construction methods such as drilling, lashing, and more. Conceptually, she intends her work as a visual metaphor for the possibility that humans can live in harmony with nature, with each supporting the other in a state of “reciprocity” and balance.
