I find freedom in working with a narrow range of materials and techniques. This limitation allows me to contrive a world of forms by bending lines, tying knots, shaping and stretching fabric skins. For guidance I look at architecture and built structures that reveal their engineering, physical rhythms and responses to the force of gravity. The biological world also provides models of form, proportion and pattern. Current work is inspired by ephemeral phenomena—clouds, smoke, shadows and flowing water.
