Vivacious Vessels, Project Baskets, At Slow Fiber in Monterey, California, Saturday, April 25, 2026, 12:30PM-5:00PM
Get in here with Vicki and her outrageous world of brave color choices, solid and contagious design habits and textures (no matter what she is making).
You’ll learn to wrap a core with fabrics, yarn, string and every other long skinny thing you can think of, coiling it all into a gorgeous vessel, with colors, materials and embellishments that will take it far beyond an ordinary basket. Of course, the sky’s the limit.
Many techniques for shaping your basket and adding optional handles, protrusions, and a lid are possible. A super neat piece, or a more random, asymmetrical wild look is possible, and by the end you’ll know how to achieve either aesthetic.
Along with learning new skills, you’ll also bring out your own personal aesthetic, creating a basket that is unique to you. Vicki provides you with lots of group instruction as well as plenty of one-on-one time, to support your experimentation and deep connection to your own process and outcome.
