Enchanting Sparkle Jar

This basket is constructed using a combination of natural and synthetic materials, including cane, reed, and plastic lace. The structure is formed with reed spokes, providing strength while cane is incorporated for finer detailing and accent work. Plastic lace is used as a decorative and functional element, adding durability and visual contrast. Techniques include twining, Japanese weave, and controlled tension weaving to create a balanced, stable form. Careful attention is given to spacing and finishing to ensure both structural integrity and an appealing, refined appearance.

My basketry blends traditional techniques with creative design, creating both functional and artful pieces. I work primarily with reed, exploring structures like twill, randing, and rib construction, often incorporating unique rims, handles, and embellishments. Each design is inspired by nature, everyday life, or a specific purpose, resulting in baskets that are both practical and expressive. I also create kits and teach classes, encouraging others to experience the joy of weaving in a relaxed, no-stress environment while building skills and confidence.
