Long-leaf pine needles coiled with raffia with simple chain stitching. Nine loops were curved back over themselves, creating apertures and different lines of flow. A simple pine stick was used as a handle of sorts.

Over 40 years ago I made my first baskets of coiled long-leaf pine needles and raffia, drawn to the satisfaction of creating something of beauty from the earthy materials. I am returning to this craft at this time in my life with a deeper intention to express my thoughts and feelings in organic and flowing form, each stitch proffering solace and peace to my soul.
