This basket uses leather off-cuts using an open technique combined with jute. The shape is organic and undefined, dictated by the leather’s pliability.

As a whole, I'm interested in the architectural quality of woven objects as sculpture and the way they occupy space. Materiality plays an important role in my work and my weaving highlights the fibers and found objects that I use. I incorporate tapestry weaving techniques and use basketry to render them in 3-D. Along with this, the history of the fiber and unique characteristics also dictate the piece. Because of the nature of the material, the works develop their own identity as they are shaped by my hands.
