My motivation arises from a deep personal connection with nature. My creative process begins by grounding myself outside in nature, observing local plants in their natural habitat. My designs connect with nature and arise from interpretation of observations to inspire beautiful contemporary organic sculptures reflecting the natural world. My work has evolved from weaving traditional baskets, to botanical sculptures that manifest my connection with plants in their natural habitat. I forage my own materials employing principles that support environmental sustainability. My chosen materials are plant fibres and my work varies in form and style but what resonates in all my work is the underlying investigation into ways that plant materials can be used to spark interest and insight into the natural world.
