Creating baskets started with coiling rusted rayon that became the center for a rebar structure. At this time materials vary from waxed linen, hand dyed & recycled silk, and, plaited water color papers painted with acrylics. As my interest and skills progressed a class with Lois Russell and a video plus materials from Jackie Abrams helped me to spread my wings. Basketry is another form of weaving where my craft interest first started. Each basket surrounds and holds which are both heartwarming concepts which drew me in at the beginning and continues to grab my interest today. Next steps include weaving with wire to form basket shapes and applying recycled materials to basket shapes.
