My grandmother and mother taught me to knit, embroider and sew at an early age. My first commission was at age 13, I spent the summer knitting 12 dozen purses for a department store chain in Los Angeles. This kept me out of a lot of trouble :). I later became enthralled with basket making, beginning with functional pieces and moving on to sculptural and decorative work. The first time I remember seeing a pine needle basket was in the early 80’s. The sweet aroma of the forest drew me in and the love affair began. I continue to this day in the slow process of stitching coils together in the woods where I live. Recently I have been making Magic Wishing Baskets , with colorful painted centers. We all need a little magic in our lives!!
