Twined waxed linen

I do all sorts of fibery things, but baskets are my world. For me, baskets seem so profoundly human. To my mind the first basket as two hands cupped together with the fingers intertwined. I focus on twining waxed linen, but I still turn to coiling and knotting when my fingers beg for variation. I love color. Over the decades my work has been featured in magazines and books. It has been included in exhibitions and honored with awards. I have had the great pleasure of teaching wonderful people. I collect historical and contemporary work. I teach. In addition to NBO, I have been on the board of Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF+) and now serve on the boards of Penland School and the Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston.
