Flourishing is handwoven in a double weave structure from a wire warp and fiber and wire weft. The weft of one layer is a paper yarn, and the other layer is a metallic yarn. An additional wire warp was woven of more densely sett wires to create the band along the bottom of the form for shaping and stability. All parts of the vessel are hand formed and stitched together with wire.

Christine has been weaving with wire for the last 30 years, exploring the relationship between hard and soft materials. The woven metal fabric that results from weaving wire and fiber together creates a unique art material she is able to utilize in sculptural expressions. Her work explores space and line, in the undulating forms she creates. The dance between the wire and the fiber produces a material that is hard enough to maintain a shape, but soft enough to have gentle curves and planes.
