In 2003 Carlos Fontales decided to buy a small video camera and travel through some of the most remote villages of the Iberian Peninsula of Spain to film the mastery of the old basket makers: an art and a world that fascinates him but that he feels is dying between oblivion and abandonment.
Carlos has been a basket maker and teacher since 1989. He is a published author of More Than Baskets and Spanish Popular Basketry. He has taught all over Europe. NBO is pleased to present his video followed by a discussion on Textile Talks.
