Wrapping Up: NBO 2021 Annual Appeal

NBO reached a milestone this year, turning 21! Though our coming-of-age occurred during tumultuous times, there are many reasons to celebrate.

Fueled by the passion of our hardworking board, we’ve been able to achieve many goals. Six years ago we hired our first Executive Director, Pamela Morton, transforming NBO into a professionally managed organization. We’ve put our dreams for the basketry community into concrete form with substantial steps to increase opportunities for our members and expand appreciation of the basketry field.

While NBO is a small organization, our size has been an asset over the past months, enabling us to be nimble and responsive to the challenges of these times. We’ve developed compelling on-line programming, including Virtually Woven, NBO Presents, Teachers’ Zoom and, debuting in November The Lunch Basket, a community forum. Every 1, our exciting inaugural on-line exhibition, will continue with a 2022 show, followed by regular biennial editions.

Our in-person biennial conferences will resume in 2023. We will also bring back Basketry Now, NBO’s dynamic gallery exhibition. BASKETRY+, NBO’s influential magazine, continues to energize the field with compelling artist profiles and thoughtful articles. Our social media team presents inspiring content daily through Facebook and Instagram. NBO’s recent collaboration with Surface Design Association and our upcoming traveling exhibition with Studio Art Quilt Associates bring additional recognition to the basketry field.

Your participation and enthusiasm propel the Board forward as we grapple with challenges, expand our programs, and reach for new milestones. The Board has committed to 100% participation in our Annual Appeal. We hope you will join us by making your gift today.

Our Annual Appeal goal of $21,000 reflects our birthday year, and the progress we’ve made as an organization. Please consider increasing your contribution by 21% to honor this milestone. Thank you for everything you do to promote and support NBO!

Wishing you a warm holiday season!
