For the last decade  I have been  exploring the potential of combining  of  salvaged metals  and coiled  pine needle basketry to create sculptural forms. It has been a good artistic fit and has become my voice –  a vehicle for expressing my deep grief and concerns for what Humankind is doing to our Planet and to one another.

As the resulting global pandemic shut down our way of life and images of microscopic viruses dominated the media, a  series of sculptures  I call Under the Scope has resulted. Armatures  created from coiled pine needles, clad with cones fashioned from strips I cut from  aluminum soda cans replicate those images.  I am discovering I can stack these orbs to form totems.  Not sure where this is leading me but it has become my solace in these troubled times.
