Working with paper using traditional and contemporary basketry techniques, Lynne creates sculptures and vessels that are driven by concepts. Her work is often very personal, expresses current affairs or address issues she is pondering.
Color is an important element in her art and working with paper allows her to control the color, texture, pattern and finish desired. Words, either stamped or handwritten are another strong element in Lynne’s work.
A deep love for textiles started at a very early age, she began sewing at 4 and knitting at 5. While in high school art class she explored a passion for woven textiles on a four-harness floor loom. Weaving lead Lynne to the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth to major in Textile Design. A culturally and artistically work career in museum merchandising allowed her access to a broad range of arts and artists. Creativity was never far from what she was doing at work and within her art practice. While studying Interior Design nights at the Boston Architectural College Lynne was greatly influenced by working in 3 dimensions. Time at the BAC impacted her work with fiber. It led her to switch her focus from 2-dimensional work on a loom and led to what she is creating today, sculptural art using a wide range of basketry techniques.
