Quad-Cities Basketry Gets Radish Write-up

Quad-Cities Basketry Guild recently got a write up about their activities in the Radish, an online and print magazine. President Sue Tucker explained the activities of the nearly twenty year old group of basket makers from in and around the Quad City area. The Quad Cities is a group of five cities straddling the Mississippi River on the Iowa–Illinois boundary. These cities, Davenport and Bettendorf (in Iowa) and Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline (in Illinois), are the center of the Quad Cities Metropolitan Area. The guild meets monthly in Moline, IL and are in the planning stages for a two day event in January 2015 where participants will make a two-handled laundry basket. Quad-Cities Basketry Guild is a guild partner with the National Basketry Guild. NBO works to support the many guilds throughout the country and in Canada. These guilds are the bedrock of basketry education, offering a local or regional welcome to people interested in basketry. Each guild is independent and plans its own programs. If you want to learn more about basketry or find a group in your area, stop by the Guilds for Basketmakers page. The guilds presented there have registered as Guild members of NBO and all of them welcome new members. We encourage you to contact them if you are a beginner or if you are an experienced basket maker looking for a community. The page is segmented by geographic area to make it easy to find a basketmaking community near you. You can find out more about how your local guild can partner with the NBO or become an individual NBO member yourself by visiting the Join NBO page or email us at info@nationalbasketry.com.
