Cole-Ware Collection Celebrates Traditional Basketry

Although the opening of the exhibit, A Measure of the Earth: The Cole-Ware Collection of American Baskets at the Renwick Gallery in Washington D.C. did not open as planned because of the government shut down. The doors to the exhibit were finally opened to the delight of basket lovers for several weeks before closing December 8.

The exhibit included the work of several NBO artists and explores the revival of traditional basketry in America during the past 50 years through works by 63 contemporary basketmakers.
