Explore the use of fine colored wires and copper wire in three different workshops taught by award-winning fiber artist Marilyn Moore of Iowa City, Iowa. Learn Marilyn’s unique method of color blending along with wire knitting and wire weaving techniques. Choose from a myriad of colors of wire as you experience the colors and forms of wire in creating baskets and jewelry.
Fancy Footwork Basket Color blending as well as design options make this basket so much fun to weave! Sometimes wire baskets are unstable and don’t stand up properly; this basket was designed to help correct this problem. Feet are the stabilizing factor in this beautiful little basket woven with copper strips, copper wire, and the student’s choice of fine colored wire. Basket size: 2” high.
Victorian Lace Bracelet This lacy bracelet, reminiscent of something from the Victorian age, is simple yet elegant and is made using a basic knitting stitch and a crochet hook. Customize it to fit your wrist and knit it as wide or narrow as you prefer; create your wearable art piece using fine wire in the color of your choice. Marilyn will bring a wide selection of beads from which to choose. Magnetic barrel clasp and crochet hook provided.
Basket Beauties Learn to twine and make miniature baskets with these little “Beauties”. Shaping and blending colors with fine colored wires is the focus of this class. Attach beads to dangle beneath the discs and make a very wearable pair of earrings and a pendant to match. Pendant Size: 1.5” wide x 2.5” long.
