The Randall Museum presents an evening of lively conversation with the legendary Parker Family. Master basket maker Julia Parker, a recognized “national treasure”, is a distinguished elder of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and longtime resident and cultural educator in the Yosemite Valley. Parker is a prolific artist, teacher and storyteller. She will be joined by her daughter Lucy Parker, her granddaughter Ursula Min-ne-ah Jones, and great-granddaughter Naomi Kashaya Jones in a free ranging conversation moderated by textile artist and scholar Deborah Valoma. The Parkers will discuss how they selected the baskets for the Randall’s current exhibit, “A Tradition of Making: California Native Basketry”.
